Room Gabriel Bernadou (1879-1914)

Inspired by the correzian flora and fauna (1905-1914)

Room Suzanne Delmas-Marthon

· Poinct de Tulle

A display case presents an art craft, the Poinct de Tulle, a lace embroidery invented at the beginning of the 17th century and so much liked by the court of Louis XIV that the word "Tulle" became famous all around the world.

 

 

Room Sacred art

· The main collection of the museum (from the Middle-Age up to now)
· A precious collection of gothic lace embroidery. Sculptures, paintings and items of worship

 

The religious art room brings together various statuary pieces representative of Limousin sculptors' technics. You can notice in greater details two heads of holy-ladies, remains of entombments from the end of the 15th century, statues of popular devotions in polychrome painted wood from the 17th and 18th centuries. A splendid and imposing baroque lectern and its antiphonary, from the workshops of the Duhamel Brothers (Tulle), is sitting in the place of honour.
